Throughout the year, the Alumni tries to provide the means and activities to
get together socially. Our two major annual activities are Alumni Weekend
and Pub Night.
Alumni Weekend is held annually at HSR on the first weekend after the Civic
holiday in August. Many activities for the Alumni and their guests are held
throughout the weekend including the infamous steak BBQ and, of course, the
Annual Staff vs. Alumni Cricket Match. Guest sites are held for Alumni
use, are and available on a first come first served basis. A nominal fee is
charged to cover the costs associated with meals and accommodation.
Pub Night is held in downtown Toronto, usually right between Christmas and
New Years. We provide some munchies and the venue for our members to catch up in
a relaxed atmosphere. This event is free to current members, and at a nominal
price for guests.
An annual Trails Weekend serves as both a social event and a service
project.
Other events including Golf and Mini-Golf Tournaments as well as a Bowling
Night have also been offered in the past and may be offered again in future
where there is want. These types of activities are advertised well in advance in
both the Alumni Thunderbird (newsletter) and on the Alumni web page. Everyone is
welcome to come out, and we appreciate anyone bringing a new face to these
events whenever possible.
