After six years of bursary awards and ten recipients, the HSR Staff Alumni was finally able to give more than $1,000 to current staff members, to help with their post-secondary education costs.

Justin Way was the recipient of a $350 bursary. You may remember Justin as the recipient an Alumni bursary in 2001. Justin has been on staff since 1997, making 2004 his 8th year on staff. Justin has been a SIT, Store Clerk, Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager, and Office Manager. Justin is graduating from Honours Outdoor Recreation /Leisure Studies at Brock University in 2005.

Jessica Lunny was awarded the $700 Alumni Bursary. 2004 was Jessica’s third year on staff. She has been Survival, Waterfront, Climbing Wall instructor, and this summer was the IT Coordinator/Assistant to the Program Supervisor. Jessica is currently in her second year at Laurentian University taking Outdoor Adventure Leadership. Like many staff at HSR, Jessica had first come to HSR as a camper. She said, “When I was a camper I loved being able to be out in the woods camping yet still having the opportunity to meet other people and do many activities that were out of the ordinary. As a staff member I love having the ability to have a positive effect where I can with other staff, the campers and the camp in general.”
