- Dean has worked at HSR for seven summers and serving as Staff-in-Training (02),
Composite/Climbing Wall (03), Maintenance staff (04-07) and Maintenance
Supervisor (08). Like most staff, Dean
was introduced to HSR as a camper.
In both 2004 and 2005 he was the recipient of
the
Keith
Whiten Memorial Award
"for dedication of service to the HSR Maintenance Dept
and a strong willingness to learn."
Dean was
awarded the 15th
Alumni
Staff Bursary at the 2006 Alumni Weekend.
In
2007 he received the
Supervisors'
Award, "awarded
annually by the Supervisory Staff
to
the HSR Staff member who actively demonstrated their belief in the Scout
Law and Promise" and the
Chief's Paddle
awarded for "Silent Service".
Dean studied Psychology
at university for a year, but despite his high grades
decided it was the not the path for him. He then attended
Pre-Service Firefighter
Education and Training at
Contestoga College in
Kitchener. He is currently
working in retail for the Hudson's Bay Co. [Dec 2006]
