June 5, 2009 - Doug Donald served four
summers as a youth staff member as a Staff in Training, Senior Composite
Assistant Scoutmaster and Composite Skipper. Since 1979 he has returned as a
Camp Doctor and each year coordinates the other doctors and nurses making him
one of the longest serving members of staff! Doug was earned his Queen's
Scout Award in 1967. He graduated from Queen's University in 1974.
Doug is a family physician in Midland, Ontario and continues to serve scouting
as a leader and as medical staff at Canadian and World Jamborees including
Medical Director for the Canadian Contingent to the 21st (100 Anniversary) World
Jamboree in England. He is also responsible for much of the Alumni's collection
of HSR crests and staff shirts.
Doug is married to Anne and their four children have all served on staff as
well: sons James (94,05), Andrew (01)
and
Shaun (98-99,02-06,09), and daughter Lori Anne
(02-03,05-06).
In early 2005 Doug was awarded Scouts Canada's Silver Acorn Award for
"especially distinguished service to Scouting". In 2009 he was made a
Life
Member of the HSR Staff Alumni Association in recognition of his long service to
